Typhoon Kabayan PAGASA Update - August 1, 2011

Typhoon Kabayan (Bagyong Kabayan) has maintained its strength as it moves North Northwestward, the PAGASA said Monday.

According to the PAGASA, Typhoon Kabayan was located at 1,150 kms East Northeast of Aparri, Cagayan at 12 nn. It is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph; and is moving at a rate of 9kph in a North Northwest direction.

There have been no public warning storm signals issued.

The PAGASA also stated the following:

This weather disturbance is too far to directly affect any part of the country.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 25 mm per hour within the 800 km diameter of the typhoon.

Meanwhile, TD "Lando" was estimated to be at 280 km West Southwest of Laoag City (17.4°N, 117.8°E).

Bagyong Kabayan (Typhoon Kabayan) has "maintained its strength as it continues to move Northward", the state weather bureau reported Sunday.

According to the PAGASA, Typhoon Kabayan (International codename: Typhoon Muifa) was located based on satellite and surface data at 980 km East of Casiguran, Aurora at 10 a.m. It is packing maximum sustained winds of maximum winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph and is moving Northward at 7kph.

The PAGASA also added the following:

This weather disturbance is too far to directly affect ay part of the country.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 25 mm per hour within the 800 km diameter of the typhoon.

Meanwhile, an Active Low Pressure Area (ALPA) was estimated to be at 250 km West Southwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur (17.0ºN, 118.0ºE), which is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains over the western section of Central and Northern Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Meanwhile, via its official account, the PAGASA said Bagyong Kabayan is unlikely to make its landfall and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibiloty by Wednesday.

"as of now,KABAYAN will exit PAR on wednesday.but it is not expected to make landfall in any part of the country," the PAGASA tweeted.

Bagyong Kabayan (Typhoon Kabayan) was located at 1,000km East of Casiguran,Aurora (16.5N,132.8E) at 6 p.m. today, the PAGASA said Saturday evening.

According to the state weather bureau, as of 4 p.m., Bagyong Kabayan (International codename: Typhoon Muifa) is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is moving to the North at 11 kph.

PAGASA also added the following on its latest bulletin:

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 – 25 mm per hour within the 600 km diameter of the Storm.

This weather disturbance is too far to directly affect any part of the country.

Bataan, Zambales and Pangasinan will continue to experience monsoon rains (moderate to heavy) which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Bagyong Kabayan (Tropical Storm Muifa) PAGASA Update - July 29, 2011

Bagyong Kabayan (Tropical Storm Kabayan) has gained more as it moves in a West Northwest direction, the PAGASA said.

According to the PAGASA, Bagyong Kababayan (International codename: Muifa) was "estimated based on satellite and surface data at 840 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.4°N 133.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph."

There has been no storm signal issued.

The state weather bureau also said the weather disturbance is "too far to directly affect any part of the country."

Tropical Depression Goring develops | PAGASA Weather Forecast

Tropical Depression Goring has formed near Batanes, Philippines main weather agency PAGASA said Saturday.

According to PAGASA's Severe Weather Bulletin, the tropical cyclone was spotted at 400 kms North Northeast of Basco, Batanes at 4 p.m. today. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and is moving at a rate of 7kph in a West Northwest direction.

"Goring" is expected to "enhance Southwest Monsoon which will bring occasional rains over Luzon becoming frequent over the western section."

Meanwhile, a new Low Pressure Area at 320 kms East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur has developed.

PAGASA Weather Forecast : Monsoon rains to prevail over Luzon

According to the 24-hour weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Calayan, Babuyan and Batanes group of islands will experience rains with gusty winds while the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will have monsoon rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas will be having mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

"Rains/Monsoon rains" are expected in the following cities: Metro Manila, Tuguegarao, Laoag, Baguio, Olongapo, Angeles, Tagaytay, Legaspi, Puerto Princesa, Ilo-ilo, and Bacolod. It would be "mostly cloudy with scattered rash" in the cities of Cebu, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Zamboanga.

The forecast added that "moderate to strong winds from northwest to southwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southwest to south over the res of the country." The coastal waters will also be "moderate to rough" throughout the archipelago.

Tropical Storm Falcon (Meari) June 24, 2011 PAGASA Update

Tropical Storm Falcon (International name: Meari) "has slightly intensified as it moves away from the country", the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said through its latest June 24 bulletin.

Known locally as Bagyong Falcon, the tropical cyclone was last spotted at 410 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, according to the bulletin.

The bulletin added that Falcon now ha maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. It is moving at a rate of 22kph North Northwestward.

Public Storm Warning Signal has now been lowered in all areas.

However, Tropical Storm Falcon is still "expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over Luzon and Western Visayas."

Bagyong Falcon June 23, 2011 PAGASA Update

Bagyong Falcon (Tropical Storm Falcon) which has slightly intensified after it merged with a Low Pressure Area earlier, has maintained its strength as it heads Northwestward, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday night through its latest bulletin.

Bagyong Falcon (Tropical Storm Falcon) is now moving at kph in a Northwest direction and has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

The weather disturbance was last spotted at 390 km East of Tuguegarao City at 10 p.m. on June 23.

Public Storm Signal Number 1 (PSWS # 1) has lowered in some areas but are still hoisted over the following:

Isabela,
Cagayan including Calayan,
Babuyan Group of Islands,
Batanes Group of Islands.

Again, people living in low lying and mountainous areas under PSWS # 1 are cautioned for flashfloods and landslides. The PAGASA added that Bagyong Falcon is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Gale warning has also been issued over the eastern seaboard of the country and the western seaboard of Luzon and of Visayas.

Will "Falcon" hit on land? According to PAGASA's forecast of Falcon's track, it may not happen.

Tropical Depression Dodong PAGASA Update - June 9, 2011

Tropical Depression Dodong is now causing heavy rains in Luzon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that the Low Pressure Area West of Metro Manila has developed into a Tropical Depression (TD) and was named "DODONG."

As of 4 p.m. on June 9, 2011, TD Dodong was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 150 km West of Dagupan City (16.0°N 118.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 19 kph.

PAGASA forecasts that by Friday afternoon Bagyong Dodong will be at 460 km West of Basco, Batanes.

Public Storm Warning Signal Number 1 was also issued by the weather bureau in the following areas:

Bataan,
Pampanga,
Tarlac
Zambales, and
Pangasinan,

PAGASA advises the residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal # 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. It added that TD Dodong is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon.
