Some colleges, universities suspend classes on August 2, 2011

Some colleges and universities in Metro Manila (NCR) have declared suspension of classes on August 2, 2011 due to bad weather.

According to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), college and university students should contact their respective schools to know whether they have classes or not.

CHED has no Twitter account, existing accounts not official - Malacañang

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) does not have an official Twitter account and those posing as CHED in the social networking site are fake, the Official Gazette said Wednesday evening.


"We have verified with CHED, the commission has no Twitter account. The accounts posing as CHED are not official." it tweeted.

Meanwhile, CHED Chairperson Dr. Patricia Licuana reportedly will be meeting school officials to come up with a system on announcing class suspensions.

"CHED Chair Licuanan tells ANC she'll meet with some schools on Fri re: system on announcing class suspensions, etc." Dr. Licuanan told ANC.

In the same interview with ANC, Dr. Licuanan also explained the reason why school officials are made to decide on suspensions of classes in colleges and universities - that situation is different per school.
