They say we all experience this sometimes in our lives. They say that everybody gets nervous from time to time and then this happens to all of us. To me it happens every day, many times a day: Sweaty palms - and feet! I know, it might sound yukky - or I don't know what you are thinking... To me it's only embarassing, if somebody finds out and comments on it, 'cause nobody really thinks it's flattering... Hyperhidrosis is what I am referring to. It is estimated at 2.8% of the population of the United States.
It affects men and women equally, and most commonly occurs among people aged 25–64 years. Some may have been affected since early childhood. About 30–50% have another family member afflicted, implying a genetic predisposition.

I've had this problem since I was a baby and of course I've learned to live with it - making it an every-day thing for me to avoid situations, where it could become obvious that I have this problem: Like shaking somebody's hand (when it's not necessary!), touching somebody on their skin (like an arm for instance), holding hands with somebody, dancing, social games where holding hands is involved, washing and drying my hands frequently or being very careful when writing with a pen on a paper, to not make it curl... It might sound really weird to you, if you don't suffer from Hyperhidrosis or know somebody close to you, who does. I might even be lucky to have it mostly on my hands and feet and not in the face for example, where it's more difficult to hide.
But how I would love to not have this condition! How I would love to be able to hold the face of a baby/child between my hands, without having to think about if it feels bad (i.e. too wet and cold/hot), holding my husband's hands, caressing a friend, who needs comfort, playing the violin, piano and guitar without worrying about slippery hands, walking around without socks on (in the house), wearing any kind of shoes... Subhan'Allah! I would give a lot for that and other things, where it is hindering me.
Today a woman I know told me that her son has bought this device that has cured him!!
The treatment is called Iontophoresis.
In this treatment, patients put their hands (or feet) in trays filled with water that passed a mild electrical present by means of the skin of the hands. This causes the outer layer of the skin to thicken, blocking the flow of sweat. Each typical treatment takes 20 to 40 minutes and might be performed within the convenience of one’s property. Repeated over various times a week, iontophoresis can produce remarkable outcomes to stop sweaty palms. The procedure of iontophoresis includes the use of water to conduct an electric present to your skin. This current will stop sweat production. Essentially, the current is applied between 10 and 20 minutes every single session. There will probably be initially two or three sessions each week, then, when desired results have already been attained, maintenance treatments could be conducted between 1 and three weeks intervals. Though current is involved, this form of treatment is actually not painful. You will discover times when patients are suggested by their doctors to acquire devices for this process. Occasionally, medical insurers cover the price. Iontophoresis is currently the most preferred option for treating sweaty hands. The downside is buying your own device can cost up to $800 (which for me [rose water] is worth it, if it seriously changes your life!!).

Some people, like the guy from the website mentioned right above, build their own devices! You can see YouTube videos about this and also other links on the Internet. I wouldn't really dare to build one myself because electroids are involved...so I have got an appointment at a doctor the 13th of April and insha'Allah this treatment will help!! If it helps, I'll buy the device somewhere online! :-) And I will let you know if it works and hopefully make more people become aware of this possibility to cure Hyperhidrosis - without medication or surgery! It took me 25 years to discover this...and hopefully it'll take much less years for other people out there. Sometime in April I will update you on how this treatment works for me, insha'Allah :) If you are from Denmark and suffer from Hyperhidrosis (øget svedproduktion) I recommend you to take a look at this website: Sved.dk.
If you are interesting in seeing how this device works, take a look at this informative video:
